The St. James Artisans are recruiting 3D artists (potters, sculptors, woodcarvers, woodturners, decorative painters, etc.) for membership to the Artisans Gallery on Howe at 114 S. Howe Street, Southport. Members would be able to participate in all Gallery activities.
The process is rather simple: 1) Contact our Membership Chair (info below). 2) Fill out the application and submit your membership fee and your artwork for jurying (May 10). When approved, you will be trained and given instructions on bringing in your artwork for display and sale. We would love to talk with you about your art and have you join us. Allie won the Benefactor’s Award for “Seasons of Birches” (see photo) created with Alcohol Inks on a series of 4 Tiles. She also won a Merit Award for “Dawn’s Reflection” created with Poured Watercolors. The Waterway Art Association Show and Sale at Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash runs through Saturday May 1st! CONGRATULATIONS, Allie! Are you a Local Artist who would like to become part of a growing, successful Gallery? The Artisans Gallery on Howe located at 114 S. Howe Street in Downtown Southport is currently searching for Local Artists who are interested in becoming members in 2021. The Gallery is specifically interested in 3D Artists who specialize in Woodworking (EX: cutting boards, game boards, candle holders, tabletop décor), Decorative/Working Bird Houses, Metal Work (EX: sculptures, weathervanes, yard art), Stone Carving, and any other unique art forms. The Artisans would like to thank NC Cares for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council and the Brunswick Arts Council for awarding The Artisans Gallery and Stepping Up for Arts (SUFA) a Covid Grant. The purpose was to help arts organization mitigate their business disruptions due to Covid-19. The Artisans Gallery received $8,603.85. Stepping Up For Arts received $5,054.25. This money will help us provide grants to teachers in the Brunswick County Schools this fall. Our State Legislators voted to award NC Care for the Arts the overall money which was distributed by county population. Mary Beth Livers, Executive Director of the Brunswick Arts Council was a great help to us. If you know her please thank her. |
