Pat Bittenbender is the featured artist at the Sales Center until the end of June. Please read the writeup about her at http://www.stjamesplantation.com/artist-of-the-month/meet-artisan-pat-bittenbender/. Here are some pictures from her work on display!
Carol Kidd is asking again for your help in presenting the Festival of the Arts to our community. All art forms are welcome and encouraged to join. All you need to do is bring your supplies - painters paint, knitters knit, potters make hand-built products or bring a wheel, jewelers make their beautiful creations, sculptors sculpt, mosaic artists set their tiles, grout their pieces, you get the picture. The public is very interested in how you create, what it takes to produce a finished piece of fine art or fine craft.
The time for this event is 10-2 on Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28. It is usually the case that those artists who participate enjoy increased sales on those days. Please respond to Carol Kidd at carolskis@earthlink.net, or 253-3532. Carol is also looking for one more person to do a children's activity. Becky Clearly is offering her Faux Scrimshaw Workshop for the teachers of Brunswick County as a Continuing Education program on May 21 from 1 to 4 pm at the COMMUNITY Center. This is part of our Granting Program.
We have a few spaces available and invite you to join us. $40 tuition payable to SUFA Drop off check at Nancy Adelis' house 3863 Ridge Crest Drive. First right from the main gate in the Reserve. Let me know if you want to come by dropping me an email at Adelisdv@verizon.net . We start by taking all the art down. Nothing can stay unless it replaced something that sold shortly before the change over. If you can’t bring your work at 9AM Monday, drop it off at the gallery on Sunday afternoon or ask a friend to help you.
Take your previous work home. If it is not in the Gallery by 9am Monday, it will not be hung. Fill in information on the forms so we can make tags. The change over should be finished by 10:30, so it should not impact Gallery business. The Artisan/SUFA General meeting and picnic will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 6pm. Instead of suffering the bugs and heat, we will again hold our picnic at the St James Community Center. Everyone should bring a dish to share. Drinks - wine, beer, soft drinks will be provided.
Please join us. For questions contact Donna Kanich! Come Fly With Me!
Presented by Stepping Up for Arts Stepping Up For Arts will hold "Come Fly With Me" at 7 PM on Thursday June 22 at the St. James Community Center. This fun event will feature Linda and Howie Franklin, formerly of Air Force One, and speakers from the St. James Friendly Skies Club, who will regale us with stories of flying and airplanes, past and present. There will be complimentary refreshments and raffles of travel and vacation experiences. Tickets are $10 either in cash or check to SUFA and can be purchased at the following locations:
SUFA is the 501c3 arm of the Artisans, and the proceeds here will go to art scholarships and educational grants for arts programs.
