Landscape Astrophotography with Nick Noble September 16, 6-9pm and September 19, 8:30-10:30pm St James Community Center
You’ve seen his work, now learn his style!!! Join Nick Noble for a classroom and evening of Landscape Astrophotography. In the classroom you will look at the night sky photography seasons. Learn how to locate and photograph the Milky Way. Learn computer methods to bring out the best of those pictures. Create night sky panoramas, star trails, and night sky selfies.
This is a five hour class: indoor classroom session on September 16th from 6 to 9 pm at the St. James Community Center, Outside Practicum on September 19th from 8:30 to 10:30 pm, local location TBD. Rain date: September 26, 8:30 – 10:30.
Successful workshop attendees will have a basic knowledge of your DSLR Camera, which includes manual focus and manual exposure modes.
Nick Noble is a retired Economics Professor (Miami of Ohio) who moved from Ohio to the North Carolina coast and discovered Landscape and Landscape Astrophotography. He now uses his teaching skills to instruct others in both Landscape and Landscape Astrophotography. Continue The Adventure With Alcohol Inks - Allie Lull September 30, 10am-2pm St James Community Center
Back by popular demand, Allie Lull will present an intermediate class in Alcohol Ink. Enjoy these brilliantly colored inks as you continue your exploration of this somewhat unpredictable medium. This class is designed for students with more experience, where they will not only learn techniques, but also practice their skills. The instructor will demonstrate the various concepts allowing the students to create their own works. Each student will go home with their completed work.
This 4 hour session is set for September 30, 2019 from 10 – 2 pm at the St. James Community Center. Class size is limited to 15. Tuition is $70 per person with all net proceeds going to Stepping Up For Arts SUFA our 501c3 that supports the advancement of the arts in Brunswick County. Artisans receive a 10% discount. After teaching high school biology and working in the corporate world for many years, Allie returned to her love of artistic creation. Working mainly in acrylic and watercolor, but occasionally in oil, pastel and mixed media, Allie enjoys abstract expressionism which is probably what drew her to consider working with alcohol inks.
Jewelry with a Flair – 101 with Stephanie Wentzel October 1, 9:30am-12:30pm St James Community Center
Have you always wanted to make your own jewelry but didn’t know where to begin?? This beginner class will show you how to create custom dangle earrings and a matching bracelet with a lobster clasp, which you get to take home, perhaps something fun for Halloween. Gain familiarity with basic jewelry tools while learning techniques like making loops on headpins and crimping to control the length of a basic strung bracelet! Use these invaluable techniques as a stepping to stone into the world of jewelry making.
“I have always been passionate about jewelry. Even as a child, I loved getting lost in the process of creating”, explained Stephanie Wentzel. Her company, launched in 2015, is called “The Jewelry Psychic” and besides her presence in the Artisans her jewelry can be found throughout several local stores including: The Painted Mermaid, The Crystal Web, and Inergy Market. Stephanie is currently enrolled in Advanced Silversmithing at the local BCCC and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge so you can experience the joy of jewelry designing!
