Jeni Kenzel

Being a native Californian, Jeni Kenzel has enjoyed being creative all her life. After moving to North Carolina and settling in St. James in 2004, she has had more time to explore various mediums. These include quilting, home decor sewing projects, jewelry making, basketry and recently, water colors. Jeni Kenzel had an interior design business in California and Virginia called Country Garden Interiors. Under the name JKDesigns, she currently offer handmade items at St. James Artisan’s Gallery and manages an antiques business at Northrop Antique Mall on Moore St. in downtown Southport.

Her true creative passion is combining vintage items, old graphics with fabric and furniture.Jeni Kenzel also loves taking old quilt tops, (the ones that were never made into quilts), because the fabric and piecing have not worn to threads, then adding cotton batting and new backing. She either hand quiltst or machine quilts to make a “new” old quilts. When jeni makes jewelry, she loves using vintage beads, buttons and charms to create one of a kind treasures. Jeni also uses newer beach glass, and semi-precious stones.
