As life has slowed down, changes have been more noticeable. I am trying to move more into a style that comes easily to me and leads me to a painting I really like. Of course, this is like changing your handwriting, but lately I have made some progress. Sometimes this is fun, sometimes it is not, but always challenging and absorbing. I have been painting almost all my life, first in watercolor then in oil. I am tending to use more watercolor techniques with oil now. It looks fresh and clean.
I adore colors and how they interact. I also have enjoyed learning that people like to do a little work when they view a painting. They like to interact with it and see it the way it pleases them. So, I try not to "overdo" my work, make it more suggestive. I like to paint the water, boats, beach, shells, and people. (I do portraits too. I will put up some samples in the Gallery as well as here.
I am proud to be part of the Artisans. I was part of the original team ten years ago and worked on many committees. It was a great club then and now it is even better. The talent that arrives here each year is amazing. I have lived in many places all over the world and traveled too. Now I am perfectly content painting on the sunporch every day.
