The Artisans Gallery at the Marina is getting ready to honor two more of our talented artists for the month of April. Peggy Calenda and Judith Dragos will be displaying many of their creations during the month and we hope you will be able to visit the Gallery and see their work.
Peggy Calenda is a vibrant oil and watercolor artist who finds the diversity of our NC landscape the inspiration for her creativity. She likes to roam and explore all the environments from the beaches and marshes to her own backyard. Her career in finance was a left-brain endeavor but she easily switched to using the right-brain when her passion for art became apparent after retirement. From her first retirement location in mountainous Ashville to her current location, here in St. James on the coast, her artistic juices have been bursting with the stimuli from both places. Her favorite place however is St. James by the Sea!! Judith Dragos is one of our basket weaving geniuses. She began weaving in 2011 in a class taught by two experts at the Oak Island Senior Center. The weekly group sessions with wonderful and encouraging people allowed her to learn and create in a very positive setting. Judith strives to improve on her quality with every basket she weaves and thus expand the range and techniques she uses. Each basket speaks to her through its beauty and function and she hopes each person who buys her baskets love them as much as she does. She continually looks for new ideas and designs to keep adding variety to her line of work. Comments are closed.
