In 2nd grade I remember being impressed by the 3rd graders' crayon artwork of people with orange faces but no eyes, noses or mouths. WOW! I said I can do better and have been trying ever since! I am a people observer and they show up in all my paintings - done now in opaque watercolor (gouache) - on beaches, river boats, and gingerbread cottages. These figures are accompanied by a supply of cats, dogs, gulls, and geraniums. From St Louis, Mo, I studied art at DePauw University and have lived in England, New York, Connecticut, and Illinois. I've had my 15 minutes of fame - I won a Saturday Evening Post cover contest!! A car! See more of Ann's work at http://www. annthompsonart.com/ |
