What does the word creativity mean to you?
For me, the creative process involves thinking outside the box. I believe the process is truly enhanced whenever it becomes a hands-on project. This applies not only to my music, writing, and visual/heritage art but also to situations that come up in other areas of life as well. What is it about the St. James lifestyle that inspires your creativity? To be honest, I had to ask a fellow artisan what was meant by the term St. James lifestyle. I moved here with my folks when they retired and were looking to live near the coast again. Life isn't cheap anywhere especially for a non-management restaurant employee, so we help each other out. There are two things I find inspiring. One is the amount of green space and wild life. The second is The Artisans group, events, and gallery. Describe the ideal environment which motivates/inspires you to create. I know I need some serious God time in my life. Without which my creativity is seriously diminished. A sweet time of worship and good conversation with Him really help. Beyond that, I find inspiration in nature and just hanging around other artists, art events, and the Artisans Gallery. These seem to get my creative juices flowing. Describe your dream project. I have had the opportunity to try a variety of art projects over the years and there is so much more that I want to learn. Visual/heritage art is what I want to do next. This will involve sewing and fabric dying skills. With regard to my music and writing, I'd love to learn to really play my keyboard, improve pon my hand drum skills and team up with one of my best friends and other musicians and vocalists to put together a CD of a dozen or so of my son gs. I think I'd like to call the project Ashes and Dust. Where is your favorite place in St James? My favorite place is home. It's not a huge house but it is unique. It is also very warm and inviting. I'm blessed by having parents who allow me to share it with them. My second favorite place is the Artisans Gallery. When I am in St James, these are the two places I spend most of my time. |
