As you may have heard, our Gallery at the St. James Marina was closed October 12. To close things off on a high note, we had a Celebration and Art Walk on the Marina Deck featuring live music for loyal customers and our Artisans. Thank you to all who attended. We had a great turnout and so many people told us how much the gallery will be missed!
Upcoming events include:
Our monthly Art Walk on Friday, October 26 (5:00-7:00pm) on the Marina deck
Our Holiday Boutique on November 9 and 10 at Marker 614 on W. West Street (across from the Southport Marina) from 9 am to 4 pm.
What happened? The retail space the developers gifted to us for the past 8 years was sold. This is part of the natural evolution of a large development such as St. James. The Marina Office and Tommy’s administrative team will be dividing the space.
What does the future hold for the Artisans?
Once we were given notice, we immediately held discussions among our members to discuss various approaches and options. We concluded that while the Gallery gave the Artisans a platform and place to sell our products, what we all cared about most was supporting the Brunswick County schools and teachers’ art programs through our Stepping Up For Arts (SUFA) [a 501(c)3 organization]. For those of you who don't know SUFA, it provides:
Fine art scholarships to Brunswick County graduating seniors
Grant monies to Brunswick County public school art teachers to support art projects
Fine art workshops to the community and teachers of the county
What's your Go Fund Me listing all about? People have been asking how they can help with our move and getting us settled in a new location. Financial support is one very big way. So we set this page up to make it convenient for those who wish to help us pay for:
Storage for our equipment
Moving out of St. James and then moving into our new home
