Thursday, June 22: Amidst the voice of Frank Sinatra belting out Come Fly With Me and a slide show depicting the early years of passenger aviation, a sold out crowd of more than 250 guests perused the travel related raffle prizes, the aviation memorabilia table and the Howie Franklin book signing table. Then the real show started. Guests boarded SUFA Air, buckling into their seats and listening to a hilarious flight safety video. While being entertained with humorous stories from retired flight attendants, passengers enjoyed "airline food" distributed by the flight attendants. An historical view of Wilmington International Airport and Piedmont Airlines was given by Pat de Barros followed and finally a very entertaining presentation from Howie and Linda Franklin, both stewards on Air Force One. Our audience was most generous in their raffle purchases and enabled us to raise significant funds for art scholarships and school grants! These monies will sustain Stepping Up For Arts through 2017. We would also like to thank all our volunteers and the gracious generosity of Linda and Howie Franklin. We hope to see you again at our next event on October 8th, when we present, "For Your Eyes Only", CIA Spies and their Families. Comments are closed.
